Tomorrow morning we'll be setting out from Chefchaouen with a guide, headed to smaller towns through the mountains. We're planning on hiking to Azilane on day one, staying overnight there, and then setting out for Akchour on day two. Cascades and God's Bridge are on the agenda. Raxx was feeling better today, so hopefully she'll be good as new tomorrow. My cold came and went pretty quickly, so hopefully hers is just as hasty in making a retreat.
Our time in Chaouen so far has been the best portion of the trip. Blue looks good on everything, apparently. The people are super friendly, the food is Spanish-inflected and delicious and the town is gorgeous. We hiked to the Spanish mosque that sits on a hill above town yesterday, sat on a wall and watched dusk settle in. We ate chicken pastilla (think strudel-style flaky pastry layered with chicken and almonds and topped with cinnamon and cumin), visited a shop of spices and herbal remedies, wandered aimlessly, and of course, visited the local kasbah. Rocked the kasbah? Indeed!
We'll write more when we are back in range of the internets after the hike. The weather has been pretty warm during the daytime (31-32 celsius), so we are praying for miraculously cooler weather during the next 48 hours. We shall see. The connection at our hostel is painfully slow, but I'll attempt to upload more photos before we leave.
