Haha. See what I did with the title? I'm hilarious. On day one, I felt a tickle in my throat. Yesterday, my throat turned scratchy. Today it morphed into a full blown cold. So, I'm sick in Fez. There are worse places to be while sick.
We caught up on some sleep this morning and then headed out to explore the oldest part of the Fez medina (dates back to the twelfth century). We visited the Batha museum (an old palace, essentially), the leather tannery (where we were welcomed warmly by the same guy who warned us to go home the night before!), an argan oil cooperative where Raxx got an oily massage, ate a couscous tajine with beets, chicken, raisins and potatoes, talked about Bollywood movies with some nice Moroccan fellows, walked many winding, narrow streets and just generally wandered around trying to get lost. We also explored the newer part of the medina (only 700 years old!) and had a couple of beers on a breezy rooftop terrace overlooking the city gardens.
Now I am sleepy and stuffy, so I will smear Vick's Vaporub in my nostrils, take a Nyquil and pass out, hoping to regain clear nasal passages by tomorrow. My Darija vocabulary is growing by the day.
Holler (le snot)
